Jimmie Vincent O'Dell, 76, passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 7, 2013 at his home in Eden.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 10, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. O'Dell was born June 18, 1936 in Ridgeway, VA, son of the late Fred O'Dell and Bessie Gatewood O'Dell. He proudly served his country for 10 years in the US Air Force. When Mr. O'Dell returned to Eden in 1964, he worked at Ivie Tire Company for three years and then at Fieldcrest Karastan Rug Mill as a weaver and fixer for 41 years until his retirement in 2009.

He is survived by his precious wife of 57 years, Nancy Carter O'Dell of the home; his children, Karen Rene O'Neill and Melissa O'Dell Yates; three grandchildren, Daniel Vincent O'Neill, Trevor Yates and Katelyn Yates; and brother, Alfred O'Dell.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday, 10 - 11 AM, at Fair Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Terry Daniel and staff at Dayspring Family Medicine, Dr. Kenneth Karb, Dr. Matthew Manning and staff at the Smith McMichael Cancer Center, and Hospice of Rockingham County for the outstanding love, support, and care during his battle with cancer and his declining health.
