Flora Leake Gammons, 92, of Mill Avenue, passed away Thursday morning, January 26, 2012 at Morehead Nursing Center. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 28, at Trinity Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery. Mrs. Gammons was born May 14, 1919 in Stokes County, NC, daughter of the late Gloster Richard Leake and Alma Delilah Smith Leake. She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church and was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills in the blanket mill division. Flora was preceded in death by her only child Samuel C. Gammons in 1987 and by her husband Jack in 2006 and by her parents. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Hopper Gammons in October 2011. Surviving are her grandsons Vic Gammons and wife Kathy of West Jefferson NC, Jay Gammons of Eden NC and Chad Gammons and wife Tiffany of Eden NC and six great-grand children, Katie and Sam Gammons of West Jefferson NC and Scott, Samantha, Stephen and Seth Gammons of Eden NC. Also surviving are Flora‚Äö?Ñ??s sisters, Octavia Baynes of Reidsville NC, Edith Gentry of Reidsville NC, Shirley Griffin of Reidsville NC and Mary McMillian of Reidsville NC. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Saturday, at Trinity Wesleyan Church and other times at 467 E. Meadow Road in Eden. To the family My dad Was Flora's Cousin and they both worked at Fieldcrest Mill and I often heard him speak of Flora and Jack, Then I met her and I visited her, she was a very sweet person.
