Gertrude "Gertie" Foley Pulliam, 85, of 1154 Washington Street, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 11, 2012, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 13, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Pulliam was born September 26, 1926 in Patrick County, Virginia, daughter of the late Fred Charles Foley and Alda Thomas Barnes. She was a retiree of American Tobacco Company. Surviving are half-sister, Jacqueline Hopkins of Axton, VA; three cousins, David Rodeffer and wife, Penny of Huntingtown, MD, Raymond D. Thomas and wife, Mary of Potomac, MD and Margaret Meadows of Shady Side, MD; sisters-in-law, Ida Wilson, Clarice Moore, Peggy Sharp, Betty Carter, Mona Ferguson, Hilda Gauldin and Shirley Cox, all of Eden; and brother-in-law, Billy Pulliam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Blue" Pulliam and infant son, Thomas Daniel Pulliam. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com
We are sad for all of our family and extended family to learn of Gertie's recent passing. It was hard for us to watch her mental and physical condition worsen over these last few years. Our prayer is for her surviving family to heal during this sad time together.
