Phyllis June Underwood, 65, of 313 Walter Chambers Street, Eden, passed away Monday afternoon, October 17, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital from heart failure due to a long battle with inoperable aortic valve stenosis. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 20, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery. Phyllis was born August 8, 1946 in Rockingham County, daughter of the late Harry M. and Faye DeHart Underwood. She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church and long-time office manager of Heat and Air Contollers. Phyllis was experiencing her best days in many months due to treatment at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Surviving are her daughter, Gini Gibson Gilley; granddaughter, Stephanie Gibson; grandson, Aaron Moxley; sister, Sheri Underwood; brother, Steve Underwood and wife, Carol; nephews, Jordan and Kyle Underwood; and niece, Melissa Underwood. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her brother, 135 Westfield Road in Eden.
