Linda Shelor Tate, 79, of Cascade, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

A visitation and gathering will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 2-4pm at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.

Linda was born July 11, 1944 in Leaksville, NC, to the late John Floyd Shelor and Pauline Meeks Shelor. She was a graduate of Morehead High School, class of 1962. She worked as a quality controller for Shorewood Packaging in Danville, VA, until her retirement. Linda enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Linley V. Tate, Jr (Kathy Tate) and Samuel W. Tate (Tracy Tate); grandchildren, Samantha Tate, Erica Swift (Brent Swift), Alysha Snider (Ryan Snider), Linley Tate, III (Sarah Tate); great-grandchildren, Levi Swift, Dylan Snider, Bellamy Tate, Maggie Tate; special cousin, Judy Barker.

In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Linley Vernon Tate, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wesley Long Cancer Center, 2400 W. Friendly Ave, Greensboro, NC 27403.

To Linley Sam and family. I am so sorry to hear about Linda. We shared some good times together when we were young and growing up together. Rest In Peace my dear friend. My love to you. 

My heart is just  broken!  Didn't see Linda very often, but when we did see each other we played "catch-up"!  We knew all the same people and were "co Great Grandmas to Levi Cash! What a wonderful person she was.. .told it like it was!  Fly high girl...hug all our people for me! 💔

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Linda. I remember when I was a young girl I would see her at the Kingstons and I thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever met. I loved how she would just talk and laugh.Miss Linda definitely lit up a room. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you. Rest in Peace Beautiful Angel.

To the family of Linda Tate with prayers and my sincere sympathy. I am saddened by the passing of Linda. I have fond memories of her. I was her mail carrier for about 20 years. I enjoyed many conversations with her. Linda was a sweet kind and generous person. On occasions my mail vehicle would break down. During those times Linda often offered her vehicle. I remember her voice and slow drawl. Linda was one of a kind. I will cherish the beautiful memories of her. May happy times and memories comfort your hearts at this time and in the times ahead.

Sheryl and I have so many fond memories of our trips to the beach and the high jinx we got into, while there. She was a once in a lifetime kind of person.
