John Harold Purdy, 84, of Eden passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Ancora Compassionate Care in Reidsville.

A memorial gathering will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 from 3-5pm at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.

John was born June 19, 1939 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late William Cosby Purdy and Mary Woods Purdy. Following graduation, John served his country in the US Air Force. He worked as a collator operator at Venier Graphics until his retirement. He enjoyed spending his time with his family.

Surviving are his loving wife, Polly Purdy of the home; sons, Greg Purdy (Mitzie) of Eden, Lee Purdy (Mechelle) of Reidsville; grandchildren, Adam Purdy (Summer), Cody Purdy, Jordan Shockley (Haleigh), Evie Scott, Kendall Hershman, Justin Purdy, Chloe Hershman, Maddox Hershman; great-grandchild, Lahela Purdy; brothers, Stanley Purdy (Brenda) of Eden, Jeff Purdy (Sandy) of Eden; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Ray and Brenda Hearne.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Ancora Compassionate Care for the level of care John received during his time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ancora Compassionate Care, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
