James Melvin Claybrook, 85, of 3730 Chestnut Knob Road in Ridgway, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 20, 2011 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, April 22, at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, VA. Mr. Claybrook was born January 19, 1926 in Stoneville, NC, son of the late Tom and Christibell Joyce Claybrook. He was a US Navy veteran and a retiree of Dupont, Inc. Mr. Claybrook was a member of Wesleyan Memorial Church where he sang in the choir. Surviving is his daughter, Teresa Lynn Claybrook of Ridgeway; son, Jerry Milton Claybrook of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren, Kris Claybrook, Andrew Claybrook, Cory Claybrook, James Allen Ward, and Melanie Dawn Ward; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Vaden. There will be no formal visitation, however the family will be gathering at the home of the daugther, 3730 Chestnut Knob Road in Ridgeway.
