James Leslie Reeves, 84, of 903 Lincoln Street, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 6, at Overlook Cemetery. Mr. Reeves was born August 21, 1926 in Spray, NC, son of the late James Henry and Katherine Land Reeves. He was a US Marine veteran of World War II and was a retired letter carrier for the US Postal Service. Surviving is his wife, Polly Mae Reeves of Eden; and step-son Mike Burroughs of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Tomkins; and brother, Harry Desmond Reeves. There will be no formal visitation however, friends and family are welcomed to pay their respects at Fair Funeral Home prior to the service. I did not personally know Jim but I do remember Mae and her coming to my Aunt Margaret's beauty shop. I am Margaret's niece, daughter of Eunice Smith. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the family.

Dear Mike and Polly and Family, I am so sorry to just hear about James death. I am been very sick and had surgery and had not read the paper for weeks. My heart goes out to you. Mike talked alot about James. He lived beside me on Stuart Street for a very long time, and I still hope that we are friends. I am trying to remember if I have met you, Polly, and I know that you are a fine lady,us having a great son as Mike. Please know if I had just known about the funeral, I would have been there for you and your family as you have always been their for me and my children. May God be with all of you during this time.
