Josephine “Julia” Laprad Kallam, age 86 died on Friday, January 4, 2019 after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, NC with Bishop, Robert Hillburn officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville, NC.  The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 – 8 PM and other times at the residence.

She was born in Eden, North Carolina to the late Joseph E. Laprad and Maybell Laprad.  Julia retired from Military Benefits Association (MBA) in Vienna, Virginia. She loved to travel and was able to fly on the Concord to Europe. She will be remembered a bright and shining light in the communities and churches she served.

Surviving are her husband, Herman Kallam of the home; son, Michael Kallam (Tonia) of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Sharon Purcell of Ridgeway, Virginia; grandson, Michael Kallam, Jr., of Leesburg, Virginia; two great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Stowe of Eden, North Carolina, many nieces, nephews and a special friend, Delaine Gannon.

Along with her parents, she Julia is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
