Shirley Ann Alverson Wright, age 83, of 1055 Old Leaksville Road in Ridgeway, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ early Sunday morning, December 9, 2018.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the Wright Family Cemetery on Wright Road in Ridgeway, Va.  The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence. 

Mrs. Wright was born on September 11, 1935 in Rockingham County to the late Wesley Alverson and Pauline Mitchell Alverson.  She was the owner and operator of Ridgeway Childcare for 20 years and also provided in home care for the elderly.  Shirley was a huge advocate for the prevention of child abuse.  She was of the Christian faith and attended Morgan Ford Christian Church until her health declined.  Shirley had a wonderful spirit of love that surrounded her and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Shirley is survived by her children, Rita Wright Walker of Eden, Johnny Wright of the home, and Ronnie Wright  and wife, Kris of Bassett, VA; grandchildren, Joseph Russell Wright, Savannah Jacobs and husband, Joshua, Shane Walker  and Jason Wright; great-granddaughter, Serenity Jacobs; and life-long friend, Nancy O’Dell Joyce of the home.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by beloved husband, Russell Junior Wright, Sr., her son, Russell Junior Wright, Jr. and two brothers, Sherman Alverson and Paul Alverson.
