Lottie Gray LaPrade Carroll, 100 formerly of Brookdale Senior Living in Eden, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, October 26, 2018 at the home of her niece in Christiansburg, VA.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Central Christian Church with Pastor Buddy Reed, Pastor David Rhudy and Pastor Don Forrester officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites performed by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 – 2 pm) at the church.

Mrs. Carroll was born on May 31, 1918 in Rockingham County to the late Thomas J. LaPrade and Girthrie Burchell LaPrade.  After her formal education, she served her country proudly in the United States Army.  She was a war veteran serving as a Sergeant during WWII, which she was very proud of.  After serving in the military she retired from E. I. DuPont with over 30 years of loyal service.  Following retirement, she volunteered at Morehead Memorial Hospital.  Lottie was of the Christian Faith and a faithful member of Central Christian Church. 

She is survived by her girls, Judy and Vicki; her cousins, Alice, Barney, Lou, Geneva, Lib and Larry; numerous nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her special friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest M. Carroll; her brothers, Norris and M.J. Laprade and her sister, Helen L. Smith.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to her loving church family and Good Samaritan Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Central Christian Church; 233 E. Stadium Drive; Eden, NC  27288.

We are praying for you all that loved Lottie. She was a dear friend of my mama. I remember sitting at her house as a little girl when we went to visit her on Sunday afternoon. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Annette Nicholson and family.
