William Edsel “Bill” Balser, 89, of Eden, passed away Wednesday morning, September 19th, 2018 at the home of his son in Charlotte.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Bill will be held at 11AM on Saturday, September 29th, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel, 432 Boone Road in Eden, with burial to follow in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6- 8 PM, at Fairs Funeral Home.

Bill was born August 14th, 1929 in Rockingham County, NC. He was a retiree of Karastan Mills with over 42 years of service. Bill was a long time resident of Bayberry Retirement Inn in Eden and attended North Spray Christian Church.

He is survived by his son, Rick Balser and wife, Rhonda, of Charlotte; one grandchild, Micah and husband Jason of Mount Holly, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Beau, Alexandra, Hayden, and Cameron; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Humphrey Balser; two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle; six sisters, Edna, Pauline, Catherine, Mabel, Louise, and Iris; five brothers, Earnest, Calvin, Barney, George, and Frank.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Spray Christian Church, 521 Washburn Avenue, Eden, NC 27288.
