John, I can't tell you how shocked I am. A friend emailed me last night with the news. I have tried to notify as many of the guys as I could from NCSU and I will contact some of the Air Force guys today. Amelia and I are so sorry. Charlie was a great friend and I have so many good memories of the times we all had together in Eden, Raleigh, and in Valdosta, GA. Charlie and I drove down to Valdosta together in June 1969 and shared a suite onbase for several months. I am going to try to change my schedule to make the funeral but I am not sure I can pull it off. Amelia and I will be thinking of you. Larry Stone

I knew Charlie from school and church. I was just looking at a confirmation class photo at LUMC from about 1958. Charlie and John were both in the class that I was in. Sorry to hear this.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Charlie. I worked in the seafood dept. at Winn Dixie and he use to come in for lobster and steak and fish etc. He always talked about his baby girl. In high school and going to college, your dad was very proud of you. He is missed.

John and Nancy Jean: I was so shocked when I received the sad news today. Charlie was such a big influence in my life - not only as an employer, but as a friend. I have so many fond memories of your dad that I will cherish forever. Nancy Jean you were his shining star. He was always so proud of you. Being the good father that he was, one morning when you were in elementary school, he wanted to make sure you ate breakfast. Not having any milk for cereal, he added water. When he told me about it - I thought then "Only Charlie" would have thought of that. He will be so missed. I'm so sorry that I wasn't there for his funeral. You're in my prayers.
