Naomi Slaughter DeLancey, 89, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at UNC-Rockingham Health Care in Eden.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, July 5, at New Heights Baptist Church with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at New Heights Baptist Church and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 319 S. Hamilton Street in Eden.

Mrs. DeLancey was born August 27, 1928 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Loyd Thomas Slaughter and Callie Benton Slaughter.  She was a member of New Heights Baptist Church and a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills.

She is survived by her daughters, Doris Little of Hutto, TX, Karen Bahr and husband, Bill of Crossfield, TN, and Joyce Parrish and husband, John of Eden;  sons, John W. DeLancey and wife, Cynthia of Ruffin and Michael C. DeLancey and wife, Tina of Virginia Beach, VA;  six grandchildren;  four great-grandchildren;  sister, Mary Burroughs of Stoneville;  and daughter-in-law, Bieb DeLancey of Goldsboro.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R. DeLancey, Sr.; son, Earl R. DeLancey, Jr.; sister, Carol Slaughter;  brothers, Belvin and Sam Slaughter;  and grandson, David DeLancey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's Bibles or to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC  27375.

Joyce, John and family. We were so sorry to hear of Miss Naomi's Homegoing. She lived a good life, especially with you and John. Please know we're keeping you all in our prayers during this time and in days to come. We know she's fully healed and reunited with her loved ones waiting on her. It's such a blessing when we know they're with Jesus. Were also praying for your out of town family as they travel to say their good byes. We love you all.
