Corum “Cory” Powell Shropshire, 27, of Ruffin, passed away on May 3, 2018.  

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow the service in Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1-2 pm) and other times at the home of his grandparents, Curtis and Janice Corum, 670 Berryhill Bridge Road, Ruffin.  

Cory was born on February 14, 1991 to Joy Corum Shropshire at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, NC.  He was of the Baptist faith.  Cory graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  He worked for Wells Fargo Bank in Winston Salem, NC as a Fraud Investigator.  Cory was a huge collector of books and enjoyed to read.  He loved animals, children, and he especially loved his family.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Cory is survived by his mother, Joy Corum Shropshire of Ruffin, his son, Aiden Wright Shropshire of Eden; his maternal grandparents, Curtis Corum and Janice Adkins Corum of Ruffin; his three beloved cats, Eevee, Abbie and Scarlet and Boxer dog, Ruby.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dillard Shropshire and Kathryn Shropshire.

Because of his love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Rd, Reidsville, NC 27320.
