Norman “Dean” Craig, 83 passed away peacefully on March 23, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Floyd Baptist Church (3652 Price Road, Eden, NC  27288).  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 – 8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home, 100 Duncan Street, Stoneville, 27048.

Mr. Craig was born in Rockingham County to the late James Craig and Laura Shelton Craig.  He was a 1953 graduate of Stoneville High School.  After school he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country proud, from March 1957 to March 1963.  While he was enlisted in the Navy he received the Good Conduct Metal.  After service he went to work and retired from Fieldcrest Cannon INC. as an Industrial Engineer.  He was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Floyd Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.  Dean will be greatly missed by all that knew him for the zest of life he brought to everyone he met.

Dean is survived by his beloved wife, of 63 years, Estelle Neal Craig of the home; son, Barry Craig of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Rhonda Craig of Huntsville, AL; granddaughter, Brooke Carroll and husband, Chris of Raleigh, NC; brother, Glenn Craig of Eden, NC and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Stella Carroll.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Newby and his brother, Neil Craig.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dean’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

I am so sorry to hear about Dean. Its been a long time since I’ve seen you but I cannot forget you! You and Dean were always good to me, and I love the whole family. I will keep you and the family in my prayers! I pray that God will wrap His loving arms around you and give you comfort and peace! I'm so sorry to hear of Norman's passing. He and I worked together at Fieldcrest for many years and I was proud to call him my friend. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. May The Lord comfort you in your grief.
