Betsy Saunders Wray, 85, of Eden, NC, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 24, 2018. She died peacefully at the High Point Hospice Home after enduring a long battle of Lewy Body Dementia and a massive stroke.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with Mark Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 2-3 pm. Interment will follow at Dan View Cemetery.

A native of Rockingham County, Betsy was born on May 23, 1932 in Draper (now Eden), NC to the late John Early Saunders and Bettie Bowers Saunders. She worked for brief times at Fieldcrest Mills in Eden and Zarn Industries in Reidsville, but spent most of her adult life taking care of her family. Betsy enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, singing, and teaching children’s Sunday School classes while attending Immanuel Friends Church and the First Baptist Church of Draper.

Betsy is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jessie Chester (“J.C.”) Wray, her parents, sister, Marcelle Light, and brother, John Franklin Saunders. She leaves behind a loving family that includes her daughters, Cindy Bousman of Kernersville, Teresa Sholy (Joseph) of Wilmington, and Rose Corbett (Dale) of Greensboro and three grandchildren, Brittany Burton, Andrew Bousman, and Jonathan Bousman (Tammy) as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. She is also survived by her brother Bobby Saunders (Neva) and her sisters Ruth Rumbley and Mamie Hairfield.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Westchester Harbour Memory Care Unit as well as the wonderful team at Hospice of High Point for your compassionate care of our loved one.
