Jeanne Marie Burckell MacDonald, 88, a resident of Lenbrook in Atlanta, GA, passed away on February 14, 2018 following a brief illness.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 24th at St. Joseph-of-the-Hills Catholic Church in Eden, NC.  

Mrs. MacDonald was born November 23, 1929 in Washington, DC, the eldest daughter of Thomas and Eleanor Sullivan Burckell.  She graduated in 1951 from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA with a degree in English Literature.  She was married for over 50 years to Ralph F. MacDonald, Jr., who predeceased her.  

She is survived by her son, Chip MacDonald and wife, Nancy Rogers MacDonald of Atlanta, GA;  her daughter, Mary Michele MacDonald of Lexington, KY;  three grandchildren, Ralph IV, Thomas, and Michael MacDonald, all of Atlanta, GA;  and her sister, Patricia Burckell Steinbronn of Andrews, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Thomas J. Burckell, Jr. and John D. Burckell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Francis Springs Prayer Center, 477 Grogan Road, Stoneville, NC  27048, where she had been a devoted volunteer.
