Dorothy Jones, 83, of 321 Anderson Road in Eden, passed away Tuesday evening, February 6, 2018, at her home.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 9th, at Overlook Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.

Mrs. Jones was born August 7, 1934 in Henry County, VA, to the late Robert Frederick Murray and Ethel Austin Murray. She was a homemaker for many years but worked for Karastan Rug Mill for a number of years before going to work for Miller Brewing Company.

She is survived by her son, Clyde E. Vernon and wife, Sandra of Eden; two grandchildren, Aimee Lee Boyte and husband, Alex and Ashley Vernon Drexler and husband, David, both of Eden; three great-grandchildren, Bradley Eugene Vernon, Ryley Cole Vernon, and Sawyer Eugene Douglas Drexler, all of Eden; sister, Geraldine Shockley and husband, Claude of Eden; sister-in-law, Estelle Billingsley of Burlington; niece, Teresa Shockley Gray and her son, Devon of Kentucky; and nephew, Timothy Shockley and wife, Dawn of Eden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson Bradley Jones.

Recently I lost my dear mother, and found great comfort in the Holy Bible, like at Isaiah 25 verse 8 - "The Sovereign Lord will swallow up death forever, and wipe away the tears from all faces."
