James Howard “Jimmy” Grogan, age 80 of Eden, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Fair Funeral Home and other times at his home.

Jimmy was born December 15, 1937 to the late Lyn Grogan and Chattie Orrell McBride. He was a graduate of Leaksville High School and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He retired from Karastan Rug Mill Division of Mohawk Carpets. Jimmy was an avid golfer and N.C. State fan. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents was brother, John L. Grogan.

Surviving are wife of 55 years; Janet Underwood Grogan of the home; daughter, Jan Johnson and husband Darren of Concord; grandchildren, Chris & Caitlyn Johnson; brothers, Joe Turner and wife Brigit of Cary and Jerry Grogan of Eden; nephews, Jeremy Turner, Daniel Turner, Don Underwood and wife Andra, Mark Underwood and wife Kim, Berkley Underwood and Mark Grogan and wife Amy.

Janet So sorry to hear about your loss. I just went on line today to see the obit at Fair Funeral Homefor my cousin, Toni Fain who lost her estranged husband yesterday. I also found out through Bong Bong Harrington that N.D. Agee passed away two weeks ago in Florida. Years ago I loaned him $820 so they wouldn't forclose on his house in Reidsville. He's dodged me for over ten years so I guess I can write that off. You take care and you have all my sympathy. You know, Jimmy and my brother "Bull" Bull passed away two years ago in November. He also worked for Karastan as well as my aunt Geneva.
