June Nelson Edwards, 82, formerly of Warren Avenue in Eden, passed away Thursday morning, January 4, 2018, at Summerstone Health and Rehabilitation Center in Kernersville.

A vistiation will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 7th, 1 - 2 PM at Fair Funeral Home. A private burial will be held following the visitation in Overlook Cemetery.

Mrs. Edwards was born June 14, 1935 in Spray, NC, to the late Joseph Henry and Nevada Keen Nelson. In her early years she was employed by Fieldcrest Mills and Karastan. In later life, she volunteered at Morehead Memorial Hospital. June loved gardening, especially her beautiful bearded iris and her jumbo tomatoes. She was also praised for her delicious cakes and pies. June was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her son, Michael Edwards of Stoneville; two daughters, Lisa Pearson (Charles) of Summerfield, NC and Laura Brooks (Kevin) of Winston-Salem, NC; five cherished grandchildren, Al Pearson, Cameron Pearson, Andy Hanna, Erin Hanna and Matt Edwards; great-grandson, Anson; and brother, Tommy Nelson of Ridgeway, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle E. "Gene" Edwards; sister, Edythe N. Earnhardt; and brothers, Herman Nelson, Eugene "Laddie" Nelson and Marvin Nelson.

Lisa, Laura, Mike and Family: I am so sorry for the loss of your dear Mother. She was always a wonderful and kind lady. She was a good friend of mine and I often would visit her and we enjoyed sharing Iris plants together.She had a green thumb and her tomatoes always was so large and good to eat.
