Lois Dunovant Smith, 92, of 4920 US 220 Business in Stoneville, passed away Sunday evening, October 31, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 3 at First Baptist Church of Stoneville. Burial will follow in Stoneville City Cemetery. Mrs. Smith, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, born September 24, 1918 in Horsepasture, VA, daughter of the late Harry and Eleanor Trent Dunovant. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Stoneville. Surviving is daughter, Sandra "Tonie" Smith McMillan and husband, Jim of Ridgeway, VA; son, Larry Garland Smith of Stoneville; grandchildren, James Garland McMillan and wife, Emily of Philadelphia, PA and Audrey Smith Helms and husband, Jason and their daughter, Bella of Stokesdale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Brown Smith; an infant son and daughter; grandson, Jacob Larry Smith; sisters, Gertrude Doss and Katherine Stanford; brothers, Yeb and Bland Dunovant; and great grandson, Peyton Helms. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or to the American Cancer Society, 1114 Magnolia Street, Greensboro, NC 27401.
