Dear Lee and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I will never forget the times I shared with my "Uncle" Doc. He called me "Precious" and made me feel that way all my life. He was a great man with a huge heart. I was blessed to be on the recieving end of that infectious smile so many times and I will miss him. Anna Nawa

I remember the good times I had with my "Aunt" Jackie and "Uncle" Doc. Visiting Christmas Eve, a roaring fire crackling in the fireplace, presents all around the tree. The christmas lights mingled with the firelight, making a beautiful Christmas Eve glow. I recall visiting at Easter, everyone dressed to the nines and taking pictures in the front yard. Chasing fireflies at dusk with my "sisters" Connie and Kay. Holding his hand and going down the creaky steps into the musty old root cellar. Panning for gold at Smith Mountain Lake. Perry Como on the record player, my parents and grandparents playing cards, while Connie, Kay, and I slept. A sign on a door that said "Jesus Saves". Doc lived his life on that philosophy, they were much more than mere words to him. A better man I've never met. I've no doubt he has gone to his reward, and is shaking hands with the Father right now. Uncle Doc, I will not say goodbye, for Christians never really die. Instead, I will say see you later, and please meet me at the Eastern Gate.
