Ernestine "Teenie" Carter James, 88, of Eden, passed away Tuesday morning, September 26, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 29th, at Overlook Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. James was born July 24, 1929 in the Spray section of Eden, NC, to the late Glenn Carter and Sadie Hale Carter. She attended Trinity Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Scott and husband, Frank of Denver, NC and granddaughter, Ashley Scott of Greenville, SC; son, Kerry Elliott James and wife, Deborah of California and granddaughters, Heather Luna of TN, Crystal Morgan, Amber Rodriguez and Jessica Walker all of TX; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Sonny" James and brother, Carlis Carter.

Kim, Kerry and family. We were so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Kim, I know you, Frank and Ashley, with Kerry's agreement did all you could to make these last few years of your Mom's life as easy as you all could, living out of town and state. Kim, I've had the pleasure to call you friend for over 30 years and i know without a shadow of doubt you and Frank honored her wishes. You all were faithful until the Lord called her Home. As I'm writing this, I'm smiling as I reflect on my visits so many years ago and what funny things she'd say. Kerry, I know you supported Kim's decisions and just that support, I'm sure gave her peace. Being in a similar position as you, Kim. I truly feel you Honored you Mother and Father as The Ten Commandments stated. So, having said that my friend, go rest and reflect knowing God will surely bless you for honoring her as you did. Our love and prayers will be with you all Friday, however, we can't be there due to a medical conflict as we've discussed.
