Mildred “Mickey” Barker Vernon, 80, of 302 Greenwood Street passed away early Sunday morning at her home.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in Ridge-View Memorial Gardens; David Wilson Jr. will be officiating.  There will not be a formal visitation.

Ms. Vernon was born to the late Laura and Harry Barker on May 13, 1937. She was a faithful member of New Heights Baptist Church and was passionate about her family. Mildred always put others before herself and will always be missed and will forever be in our hearts. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Sherri Pichardo, and her sister, Hazel Chapmon. 

Mildred is survived by her only son Terry Vernon of Reidsville; four grandchildren, Cassie Warren (Jason) of Eden, Michael Vernon of Reidsville, Laura Vernon, and Christopher Vernon both of Greensboro; one brother, Samuel Barker (Judy) of Archdale; four great-grandchildren, Derrick Silvers, Kaylie Silvers, Lacey Warren, Paisley Dreier; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
