Betty Knight Cox, 89, of Eden, passed away Thursday morning, September 14, 2017, at her home.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Cox was born December 30, 1927 in Smyth County, Virginia, to the late Josiah and Tessie Thomas Knight.  She was a member of Spray Baptist Church where she was the former youth choir director and former superintendent of the Sunday School department.  Betty worked for 38 years as a librarian for the Rockingham County Library and especially the Book Mobile.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Snodderly of Eden; brother, Joseph Knight of Greensboro; sister, Sue Hall of Jonesboro, TN; grandchildren, Thomas Snodderly and wife, Keisha of Atlanta, Alysha Horsley and husband John of San Francisco; great grandchildren, Noah and Sophie Snodderly and Henry Horsley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Cox; brothers, Calvin, Carter and Harry Knight.
