Betty Adkins Joyce, age 69, of 361 Billie Harris Street, Eden, NC passed away peacefully on Friday evening June 23, 2017 at Annie Penn Hospital.
 
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Fair Funeral Home, 432 Boone Road, Eden, NC on Friday, June 30 from 6:30-9pm.  A funeral service will be held at North Spray Christian Church, Washburn Ave, Eden, NC on Saturday, July 1, 2017.  The family will be at the church at 9:45am with the service to be held at 11am, followed by a short graveside service.
 
Betty was born February 11, 1948 in Rockingham County to the late John and Edna Harrington Adkins.  She graduated from Morehead High School (Class of ’66) and later attended Rockingham Community College.  She worked at Sealtest, Fieldcrest Mills, Fieldcrest-Cannon Outlet store, Eden Pharmacy and at NewBridge/First National Bank.  She gained “family” with all of her co-workers.

Her interests included fixing home cooked meals, making sweet tea (it was the best), reading – Karen Kingsbury and books about the Amish among her favorites, and taking care of her two cats Cee Boo and Lil’ Bit.  She was always quick to offer tissues and Trident gum to anyone in need.  She adored her grandchildren, all 12 of them.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents, was her husband of 43 years, Larry Odell Joyce who had just passed last month, whom she missed very much.

Surviving are sons Anthony D. Joyce of Glen Burnie, MD and Alton David Joyce of Eden; stepsons Kent D. Joyce (Kristy) of Tucson, AZ and Timothy D. Joyce (Sheri) of Villa Park, IL; brothers, Jimmy Harrington (Linda), Harold Adkins (Barbara), and Oral Adkins – all of Eden; sisters, Virginia Murray (Al) of Eden and Mary Adkins (Bill) of Callands, VA; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

To Betty's family especially Harold, Virginia, Mary, Jim. I am so sorry to,hear of Betty's passing. I am out of town again as I was at Larry's death. I fondly remember our times together as children, walking to catch the bus, playing kick the can, your Mother's biscuits. My deepest condolences to to you and the entire family. Rachel
