My sympathy goes to the family in the loss of your dear loved one. He was my economics teacher at Montreat College and now I am a high school economics teacher (among many other things). So he definitely had some significant influence. He also steered me to a summer missions opportunity with Latin America Mission in Mexico City. He will be sadly missed I am sure. We do know he is with the Lord.

My sincerest condolences to Bettye and her family. Hicks had such a positive impact on so many in the Montreat community and far beyond. His dedication to the college and his work as a teacher was exceptional, and I doubt anyone could say they retired from Montreat as many times as he did. He was a mentor and kept up with me long after I left Montreat, as I am sure he did with a great many others. Well done, good and faithful servant!

Dear Bettye, it was such an honor knowing you. We shared many truths about the Lord in our Bible study the last ten years, and now you can know them to be true, real and eternal. May the Lord comfort you in losing Hicks, but know your commonwealth is with him and the saints in Heaven. You were a real Christianrole model for us young in's. Blessings. Carole Shaw
