Bobby Gene Christley, 65, of 138 Mabes Road in Eden, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, 5 - 7 PM, at Fair Funeral Home. A gathering, at his home, will follow the visitation.

Bobby was born June 17, 1951 in Spray, NC, to the late James Boyd Christley and Lovenia Burchell Christley. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and watching NASCAR and drag racing. Bobby worked for Wilson Roofing and John Smith and Sons, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hughes Christley of the home; daughter, Tisha Lanigan of Eden; son, Jay Christley of Eden; three grandchildren, Blake Smith of Eden, Erin Lanigan of Martinsville, VA and Trey Lanigan of Horsepasture, VA and Eden, NC; brothers, Calvin Christley of Eden and Michael Christley of Greensboro; and sisters, Carolyn Wooten and Shirley Roberts, both of Eden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Everette Christley and sister, Louise Johnson.
