Larry Odell Joyce, 75, of 361 Billie Harris Street in Eden, passed away Thursday evening, May 4, 2017, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 10, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, 10 - 11:45 AM, at Fair Funeral Home before proceeding to the cemetery.

Mr. Joyce was born September 22, 1941 in Eden, NC, to the late Odell and Lessie Eggleston Joyce.  Larry enjoyed working and was the owner and operator of Joyce Tire Company.  He also enjoyed NASCAR racing, watching westerns, and spending time with his family.  He was of the Baptist faith and had a strong faith in Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Adkins-Joyce of the home;  four sons, Anthony D. Joyce of Glen Burnie, MD, Alton D. Joyce of Eden, Kent D. Joyce (Kristy) of Tucson, AZ, and Timothy D. Joyce (Sheri) of Villa Park, IL;  11 grandchildren;  one great-grandchild;  brother, Charles Joyce (Ann) of West Jefferson;  and sister, Linda Joyce Hall (Doug) of Stoneville. Larry also leaves behind his two cats, Cee Boo and Lil Bit that brought joy to his life.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister.

The family would like to thank Hospice, Dr. Neijstrom, Dr. Shah and Delores Servin CNA and Lavonda Hairston CNA for their wonderful care.

I managed the one stop in your community and Larry was in and out of there every day, when my two year old lost her papa Larry was in the one day and she told him she lost her papa would he be her papa and for a while after that on Sunday afternoons she would spend the evening with you all and swim and She thought you guys were the greatest Larry was always a remarkable asset the his community as a whole.
