Lois Shelton Gillie, 88, of Eden passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Morehead Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 at Spray Baptist Church.  Interment will follow the service in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Mrs. Gillie was born on May 28, 1928 to the late Robert Lester Shelton and Thelma Hall Shelton.  After graduation from high school, she attended the Women’s College (UNCG). Mrs. Gillie retired in 1990 from Fieldcrest Cannon as an executive secretary and then re-entered the workforce working for the Rockingham County Council on Aging. Lois was a member of Spray Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gillie is survived by her children, Laura Rodgers (Foye) and Miles Gillie (Rudine); sister, Gen Cox ( Stafford); six grandchildren, Ashley Rodgers, Tyler Rodgers (Angie), Joel Gillie, Joshua Gillie, Sarah Gillie, and Daniel Gillie; one great-grandchild, Ewan Rodgers.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Madison Gillie and her brother, Royce Honeycutt.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm at Spray Baptist Church and other times at the home of her daughter, 112 Taft Street, Eden.

Memorial contributions may be offered to Widows for Christ, Spray Baptist Church, 745 Church Street, Eden, NC 27288
