Timothy Ray Overby, Jr., 44, of 610 Fraker Place, passed away April 14, 2017 at his home. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Fair Funeral Home’s Chapel.  Interment will follow the service in Overlook Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Rockingham County Veteran's Honor Guard.

Tim was born in Eden on July 23, 1972 to Barbara Blackburn Shively and the late Timothy Ray Overby, Sr.   He was of the Christian faith.  Tim was a 1990 graduate of Morehead High School.    He served his country proud, serving in the 82nd Airborne division of the United States Army.  He was an avid Bengals football fan.  Tim had a love for knowledge that showed with all of his dedication of degrees.  He loved spending time with people and especially his two dogs and his cat.

Tim is survived by his three children, Asheton Overby of Eden, Emily Overby of Reidsville, and Timothy “Randall” Overby of Raleigh; his mother, Barbara Shively; sister, Stephanie Overby of Eden; half-sister, Heather Tilley of Eden; grandchildren, Brady Haymore and Nolan Overby and uncles, Jim and Paul Blackburn of Eden.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, (12 -2 pm) and other times at the home of his mother, 105 Steeple Road in Eden.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fair Funeral Home (P.O. Box 337, Eden NC  27289) to help with Tim’s final expenses.
