Dorothy "Dot" O'Dell Thacker, 89, of Ridgeway, VA, passed away early Monday morning, April 10, 2017, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 13, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jones Oliver, Thomas Wilson and Brother Thomas Joyce officiating.  Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Janet and Roy Boardwine, 6435 Mitchell Road, Ridgeway, VA.

Mrs. Thacker was born February 10, 1928 in Ridgeway, VA, to the late Dewey S. O'Dell, Sr. and Hattie Wilson O'Dell.  Affectionately known as 

"Dot", she graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1945.  She worked in the retail industry for many years where she enjoyed meeting new people.  Dot was a very loving, compassionate woman of great integrity.  She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and beloved cat, "Sparkles".  She was a member of Morgan Ford Christian Church in Ridgeway, VA and also a member of T.O.P.S Chapter 413 for many years.

She is survived by daughters, LaVerne Thacker Tullock (John) of Greensboro, NC and Janet Thacker Boardwine (Roy) of Ridgeway, VA;  and granddaughter, Jasmine Boardwine of Ferrum, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 63 years, Herman F. Thacker and brother, Dewey Sanford O'Dell, Jr.
