Katherine Burgess Gilley, 84, passed away Tuesday evening, March 28, 2017, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 31, at Overlook Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter, 725 Caleb Street in Eden.
Katherine was born January 19, 1933 in Ridgeway, VA, to the late James A. Burgess and Lillian Gaye Burgess. She was a retiree of Spray Cotton Mill.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Mitchell (Ricky) of Eden; son, Kevin Gilley of Eden; three grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell, Bradley Mitchell, and Brent Mitchell, all of Eden; three great-grandchildren, Colby Mitchell, Aubree Mitchell and Jayse Mitchell, all of Eden; and two sisters, Elsie Denny of Drexel Hill, PA and Ollie Grogan of Greensboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Henry Burgess; and sister, Inez Tucker.
