Howard Haemon Nowlin (Lucky) passed away March 20, 2017 in St. George Utah, where he had resided for the past four years.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Overlook Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the grave.
He was born to Holt Nowlin and Ila Mae Meeks in North Spray, North Carolina, September 15, 1919 and grew up in that area. Served in the Navy in WWII and Korea. Married Louise Hill, June 22, 1941, later divorced. Between the wars, he ran a barbershop in Leaksville NC. Moved his family to Pensacola FL in the 50’s, where he worked for Monsanto. After his retirement in 1982, he returned to North Carolina. Married Carol Silver Kerbs, December 12, 2009. He was a skilled craftsman and handyman, enjoyed metalworking (made his own golf clubs), photography (1000’s of slides from his travels around the US), and golf, golf, golf. A church-going Christian all his life, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 89.
He is survived by his wife Carol Nowlin, daughter Brenda Johnston, granddaughter Laura Thompson, great-grandson Cole Thompson, and stepsons Clifton Kerbs, Brian Kerbs, and Alan Kerbs.
