Jesse Lee Kennon, 95, of 115 Dillard Court in Eden, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 22, at Draper Christian Church.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Military rites will be performed by the Rockigham County Veteran's Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of Gene and Linda Kallam, 224 Farrell Street in Eden.

Jesse was born on October 4, 1921 to the late Will and Dolly Kennon.  He was a longtime member of Draper Christian Church.  Jesse was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills.  He also served in the Navy during World War II.  Jesse loved spending time in his yard and garden.  His harvest was always enjoyed by many.  On Sunday afternoon, he could often be found watching the race in his favorite chair.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Kallam (Gene) and Diane Guest, both of Eden;  granddaughters, Vanessa Wilkerson (Robert) of Vidalia, GA, Wendy Lewis of Eden, Denise Gaymon (David) of Sophia, and Leslie Olsen (Scott) of Florence, SC;  grandsons, Jason Wood (Tracey) of Eden, Casey Wood of Greensboro and Richie Minter of Durham;  nine great-grandchildren;  six great-great-grandchildren;  brother, Billy Kennon of Eden;  sisters, Yvonne Pierce, Viola Allen and Beatrice Blanchard, all of Eden and Veronica Duck of Lake Norman;  and special friend, Doris Rodgers;  and caregiver, Mary Edmonds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Doris Jones Kennon;  two daughters, Judith K. Wood and Wanda K. Eden;  brother, Melvin Kennon;  sisters, Ruby Adkins, Hazel Robertson and Lucille Baker;  and great-great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Travis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Draper Christian Church, 1116 Fieldcrest Road, Eden, NC  27288.
