Evelyn Jean Dishmon Stophel, 82, passed away peaceful on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.  

The family will receive friends on Monday, January, 30, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home; 7091 NC Hwy 700 Ruffin, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in the Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow the service in Danview Cemetery.

Mrs. Stophel was born in Rockingham County on October 31, 1934 to the late Eugene and Cora Chumley Dishmon.  She graduated from Ruffin High School.  Evelyn was of the Methodist faith.  She loved living life to the fullest but most of all she loved her family.

Mrs. Stophel is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Harvey Stophel of the home; son, Kenneth Stophel and wife, Shelby of Whitsett, NC; grandchildren, Judy Gray and Mike Cash; great-grandchild, Ashleigh Hillebrand; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Russell Dishmon and Hayward Dishmon; her sisters, Nettie Dishmon, Thelma London and Eunice French.
