Fred Mathaniel Sizemore, Jr., 98, formerly of Eden, passed away Friday morning, December 30, 2016, at Trinity Glen in Winston-Salem.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday January 3, 2017 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 till 11 a.m.

Mr. Sizemore was born August 1, 1918 in Concord, NC, to the late Fred Mathaniel Sizemore, Sr. and Ada Atwell Sizemore.  He was a World War II US Army Air Corps veteran. Fred was a graduate of N.C. State University and later retired from Fieldcrest Mills.  In 1950 he was married to Carolyn Lamar Sizemore and they lived for many years on Harris Street in Eden and the last four years at Trinity Glen. He was a member at Spray Baptist Church in Eden.

He is survived by sons, Clark Sizemore and wife Juanita of Winston-Salem and Tim Sizemore and wife, Linda of Freehold, NJ;  one daughter, Sarah Sizemore Talley and husband, Russell of Winston-Salem;  and four grandchildren, David Sizemore, Russ Talley, Daniel Sizemore and Julia Sizemore; great grandchild, Madelyn Sizemore; special niece, Martha Woodlieff and great niece, Katie Woodlieff Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Hope Lamar Sizemore and sister, Ruby McClellan.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Trinity Glen for all the care and comfort they gave to Mr. Sizemore.

To the Sizemore family, my wife and I have you in our thoughts and prayers. I had great respect for Mr. Sizemore, having known him when I was a teenager growing up with Tim and Clark. He will be missed, but always remembered.
