Carlton Wallace Cox, 88, passed away Thursday evening, December 1, 2016, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, December 3, at Overlook Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the mausoleum.

Mr. Cox was born April 10, 1928 in Mt, Airy, NC.  He was a member of Spray Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and was also a Deacon.  Carlton was a US Navy veteran.  He was a retiree of Duke Energy after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his sisters, Betty Gatewood Walker and Mary Ann Walker and husband, Charles, both of Eden;  sister-in-law and caregiver, Faye Fulcher of Eden;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William D. Gatewood and Beatrice Cox Gatewood;  his wife, Elaine Fulcher Cox;  and sister, Donna Gatewood Collins

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses at Morehead Nursing Center and Morehead Memorial Hospital for all their care and support.
