Iris Jones Denny, 86, of 1356 Huntington Trail, Cascade, VA passed away at the home of her daughter with her family by her side Friday, October 14, 2016.  

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Fair Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Hardy, Pastor W.L. Wade, and Pastor David Smith officiating.  Interment will follow the service in the Jones Family Cemetery in Cascade, VA.

Mrs. Denny was born on October 22, 1929 to the late Robert Wesley Jones and Francis Clark Jones.  She was of the Methodist faith and a faithful member of Harmony Methodist Church until her declining health.  Mrs. Denny retired from DuPont with 21 years of service.  She loved her family dearly and she will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Denny is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Smith and husband, Howard of Danville; sons, Cliff Denny of the home and Randy Denny and wife Cathy of Cascade; grandchildren, Robert Denny, Brandon Davis and wife, Amanda and Kelly Wright; great-grandchildren, Jackson Davis Wade and Ryan Mason Wright; sisters, Hazel Jarrell and husband, Eugene and Gayle Boothe all of Eden; brother, Dillard Jones and wife, Harriet of Danville; step-son, Herbert Denny and wife Pam of Ruffin; son-in-law, Harold Davis of Danville; special friend, Margie Griffin of Stoneville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband and father of their children, Stanford Clifton Denny, Sr, and her second husband, Herman Ray Denny; daughters, Linda Denny Davis, Kaye Denny Witty; brother, Bobby Jones, step-daughter, Hilda French; step-son, Herman Carter Denny; and son-in-law John W. Witty.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm and other times at the home of the son, Randy, 1376 Huntington Trail, Cascade, VA.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice Home for the care they gave to Mrs. Denny while under their care.

Memorial contributions maybe made to either Mountain Valley Hospice; 730 East Church Street, Martinsville, VA  24112 or Harmony Methodist Church, 3965 Oak Hill Rd. Danville VA.
