Evelyn Mae Ratliff Bankston, 87, of 140 Warren Road in Eden, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 15, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Evelyn was born September 12, 1929 in Patrick Springs, VA, to the late Coy and Vera Wimbush Ratliff.  She was a member of Wentworth Presbyterian Church.  She loved gardening, knitting, and crocheting ornaments for her church.

She is survived by her son, Donald Bankston and wife, Vanessa of Dracut, MA;  four grandchildren, Brian Bankston, Tracy Bankston Ales, Rhiana Bankston Langley, and Michael Bankston;  and sister, Onnie Ratliff Mullins of Eden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Bankston;  son, Ronald Bankston;  sisters, Edna Ratliff Royal and Elaine Ratliff Cross;  and brother, Freddie Ratliff.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence on Warren Road.
