Joshua Cole Underwood born September 9, 2016. He was born and met the eyes of Jesus at 6:11 a.m. the same day.

A graveside service will be held 4 pm. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Dan View Cemetery.

Joshua was the son of Tommy and Whitney Dalton Underwood of Eden, NC.

He is survived by two siblings, Larissa and Kaylee, both of the home; paternal grandparents, Tommy and Vicki Underwood of Eden; maternal grandmother, Jennifer Carter of Madison and maternal grandfather, William "Bill" Dalton, III and wife Angela Dalton of Glade Hill, Virginia. Joshua is also celebrated by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Aunt Brooke and husband Eric Willis and their children, Jaylan and Payson; Aunt Brittany and husband Jeff Jurek and their children, Elizabeth and Alexandra; Uncle Justin and wife Brooklyn Dalton and their children, Brantley and Zoey; Uncle Zackary Dalton; the paternal great grandparents, George Underwood and Gene Brown; great great grandmother, Barbara Meeks and great grandmother, Donna Meeks. He is preceded in death by paternal great grandmother, Eva Coleman Underwood, Mae Brown and great grandparent Larry Meeks, whom are now holding him gently in Heaven.

The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation provided a volunteer photographer, Sarah Griffith, to record his short life with us. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I cannot imagine greater pain and suffering than what you went through. I always tell everyone, life is a test, God will put us through many challenges, all happens for a reason and finely whoever we have in our lives are the people we need to have to teach us these lessons and make us grow spiritually, emotionally psychologically for a purpose we will eventually find... Yet, is hard to find a purpose when you loose what was the most precious to you. My prayer is that you may find consolation in the fact that your baby was very much loved when he was inside you, and he continues to be next to you, his siblings and your family. My mom lost my brother the same day he passed. She never saw him because he was born with a physical deformation... Yet, if wasn't for this, she would have continued to live the life style she was living (overworked, unhappy, away from her loved ones and married to the wrong person) and by the time I was born, it could have been me, or perhaps I would never be here. I'm sure your situation is not the same, and you may question why your baby left so soon... Just find peace that this is our temporary home, and life passes by in a blink, and soon you will be together again. Until then, talk to your baby, pray for him, pray that he will find a way to come back to you. I am so sorry for your loss.
