James Franklin "Frank" Minter, 88, passed away Thursday evening, September 8, 2016, at Brian Center in Eden after a lengthy illness.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM on Monday, September 12, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  

Frank was born July 18, 1928 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Jesse and Suzie Minter.  He was a US Navy veteran and a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills.  

He is survived by his three daughters, Linda Reynolds, Karen Lunsford (Bob) and Donna Minter;  son, Mike Minter;  eight grandchildren, Lisa (Shay), Ryan (Tiara), Ben (Hope), Brian, Tyler, Mason, Bill (Jamie) and Robin; six great-grandchildren, Cian, Clara, James, Wesley, Olyvia, and Kira Mae;  and brother, Jerry Minter (Barbara).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Patterson Minter; daughter, Sherrie Joiner; son-in-law, Mike Reynolds; and eight siblings.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (5 - 6 PM) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Karen Lunsford, 1865 Moir Mill Road in Reidsville.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Eden Brian Center and Hospice of Rockingham County for the excellent care given to our dad.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

We didn't get know your dad when he was healthy and at his best, but his children are an indication of the man he surely was back then. I have good memories of my time with Frank: singing together, that beautiful smile and laughter.. wiping his tears when no one could understand where they came from, to be given the most precious attempt a smile of thanks. I'm sorry for your loss and your pain. <3
