Katherine Williams Griffith, 97, formerly of 109 Byrd Street in the Draper section, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Morehead Nursing Center.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Immanuel Friends Church, with burial to follow in Dan View Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior (2-3 pm) at the church and other times at the home of her daughter in Eden.

Mrs. Griffith was born on February 17, 1919 in Stuart, VA to the late Murray and Edith Webb Williams. She was a member of Immanuel Friends Church for the past 68 years. She was employed by Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. Blanket Division for 47 years.

She is survived by her children, James A. Bratton (Pat) of Crowley, TX and Linda Ritchie (Bobby) of Eden; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one soon-to-be great-grandchild; sister, Mildred Underwood of Eden and also many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, R. Stuart Griffith (Cookie), four brothers, Evrette, Herman, Elmer and Glenn Williams and six sisters, Clara Overby, Pearl Orcutt, Virginia Linsey, Irene Wheelhouse, Carolyn Bizell and Marie Haymore.

At the families request, flowers are welcomed and memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Griffith’s honor to Immanuel Friends Church; 502 S Fieldcrest Rd, Eden, NC 27288.
