Jane Law Duckett, age 95, of Wilmington, NC, passed away June 30, 2016 peacefully surrounded by her family, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center in Wilmington. 
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on July 16, 2016 at Dan View Cemetery, Eden, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 – 11:45 am at Fair Funeral Home before proceeding to the cemetery.
She was born on June 21, 1921 in the Draper section of Eden, NC, to the late Worthie P. and Ruth Johnston Law. She was previously married to the late Carl E. Duckett who predeceased her in 1992. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Wilmington, NC. She is survived by one son, Arthur L. Duckett and his wife Debra B. Duckett and their daughter Hilary A. Duckett. Her daughter Ruth E. ‘Ellie’ Duckett and eldest son Ernest P. Duckett preceded her in death also in 2016. Her daughter-in-law, Margaret Duckett, grandsons Carl Duckett II (Kasi) and Ernest P. Duckett, Jr., granddaughters Shannon Jenkins (Todd) and Tami Estep (deceased), great-granddaughters Riley and Ansley Jenkins and Claire and Caeli Duckett. Jane is also held in loving memory by sister-in-laws Earline Law, Lois Law, Dee Law, Ruby Duckett and Ruby Edwards.
After graduation from high school, Jane married and relocated to Galax, Va. after World War II. This relocation was one of several moves as Carl was offered new positions as a civilian employee of the US Army. Her final move was to Fairfax County, Va. as Carl was offered a new position at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Washington, DC. Jane enjoyed travelling to the many foreign locations her daughter worked in, also an employee of the CIA. Along with travelling, Jane loved cooking, crafting, calling her brothers and sisters, and her church family.
In addition to her parents and two children, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lillie Law Barnard, Hazel Law Kirks, Ruth Edna Law Setliff, and Nina Law Pendleton; brothers Marshall Law, Russell Law, Wash Law, Curtis Law, George Law,  Kermit Law, Larnie Law and Troy Law.
A special thanks to Jane’s doctors, Dr. Jessica Burkett and nurse Sherry Tanner of Wilmington Health, Dr. Kenneth Kotz and the infusion nurses of Cape Fear Oncology who provided compassionate and expert care . A special thanks to Dr. Ted Winneberger and nurses Winnie and Nicole of Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their loving care that they provided in her final hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
