Frances "Mozelle" Joyce Smith, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 29, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) in the chapel and other times at the home of the son, 110 Glenwood Road in Eden.

 

Mozelle was born May 1, 1925 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Walter and Cassie Joyce.  She and her late husband, Arthur, were married November 22, 1941, a union that lasted 74 plus years.  She and Arthur were members for many years of Matthews Chapel Methodist Church and later joined Hampton Heights Baptist Church; Mozelle was a choir member at both.  Mozelle, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, was a great cook, loved gardening and always liked having a pet cat.

 

She is survived by son, Bill F. Smith and wife, Joyce, of Eden;  grandsons, Todd Smith of Marietta, GA and Mike Smith and wife, Katy of Spartanburg, SC;  sister-in-law, Augusta Smith of Martinsville, VA;  several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and her husband were brothers, Robert Joyce and James Joyce;  sisters, Christobel Claybrook, Vera Smith, Irene Kallam, Evelyn Smith, Lena Gray and Ethel Solomon.
