Elwood Ray Boyte, age 84 of 309 Frank Cherry Street, Eden passed away on Saturday June 25, 2016 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 1 pm Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors provided by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Boyte was born October 16, 1931 in Spray ( Eden), NC to the late Marvin and Grace Leonard Boyte. He was a member of Osborne Baptist Church and owner and operator of Boyte Distributing Company know as "The Candy Man". Elwood was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War in Alaska.

Suviving are wife, Ruth Scruggs Boyte of the home; daughters, Rebecca Boyte Cipriani (Giacomo) formerly of Summerfield now residing in Myrtle Beach, Kellie Boyte Jones (Artie) of Eden; son, Terry Lynn Boyte and wife Vicki of Collinsville, VA; grandchildren, Jessica Bennett (Jaison), Andrew Cipriani, Rachel Jones and Lauren Jones; sister, Margie Washburn; brothers, Doug Boyte (Sandra) and Raeford Boyte ( Glen) all of Eden.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening 6 -8 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
