Ernest James "Jimmy" Hopkins, 76, of 2743 Worsham Mill Road in Ruffin, passed away early Monday morning, May 16, 2016, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.
 
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 18, at Happy Home Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.
 
Mr. Hopkins was born December 18, 1939 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Ernest and Rosie Gauldin Hopkins.  He was an avid NASCAR fan as well as a fan of blue grass music. He played the mandolin.  
 
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Powell Hopkins of the home;  two sons, James Franklin Hopkins of Eden and Jimmy Alan Hopkins and wife, Leigh, of Eden;  daughters, Donna Lynn Hopkins of Greensboro and Janis Beasley and husband, Brad of High Point;  sister, Linda Cassell of Eden;  step-son Kenny Walker and wife, Donnell of Reidsville;  four step-daughters, Cindy Carroll and husband, Keith of Thomasville, Janet Holt and husband, Mike of Reidsville, Debra Parker and husband, Neal, also of Reidsville, and Carolyn Vanderwert and husband, David of Stoneville;  seven grandchildren;  eight step-grandchildren;  and seven great-grandchildren.
 
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to Holland Road Baptist Church, 798 Holland Road, Danville, VA  24541.
