Shirley Gilmore Benson, 79, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016, at Morehead Nursing Center.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 18, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

 

Mrs. Benson was born April 12, 1936 in Zanesville, Ohio.  She was a member of Kings Highway Christian Church and was a teacher for many years.  Shirley loved people and enjoyed the teaching profession.

 

She is survived by her son, Larry Benson and wife, Faye of Eden;  sister, Sue Griffin and husband, David of Sacramento, CA;  brother, Otto Gilmore of Zanesville, OH;  several nieces and nephews;  and special friends, "Tommy" and Isetta Thompson of Murfreesboro, TN.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Benson;  grandson, Mike Benson;  granddaughter, Kim Benson;  sister, Ethel;  and brother, Larry Gilmore.

 

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home.
