Clarence "Sam" Samuel Wooten, Sr., 70, of 2711 Price Road in Eden, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 11, 2016, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth.
 
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 14, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.  Reverend Leslie Mayberry is officiating.
 
Mr. Wooten was born January 5, 1946 in Pittsylvania County, VA, to the late Clarence Sidney Wooten and Emma Hill Wooten.  He was formerly employed by Fieldcrest Mills and Equity Meats.
 
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Christley Wooten, of the home;  two daughters, Emma Yepez and Angela Wooten, both of Eden; son, Clarence Wooten, Jr. of Eden;  six grandchildren, Cydney Jones-Mayberry, Hannah Barefoot, Savannah Collins, Candice Torrence, Ronnie Parrish, and Clarence Wooten, III.;  nine great-grandchildren, Frank Mayberry, Lily Mayberry, Lunar Jordan, Jovee Collins, Nolan Hunter, John Deal, Jr., Destiny Deal, Owen Torrence, and Caiden Deal;  and sisters, Martha Hazelwood and Lola Smith.
 
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home.
